Do you have a sensitive tooth? This could be the first indication that you need a root canal. At Jennifer Lopez DMD, we are committed to keeping your dental health in check for a lifetime of beautiful smiles!
A root canal occurs when the infected center of the tooth, known as the pulp, becomes infected. The pulp contains blood vessels, nerve endings, and tissue. As the pulp gets infected, you may experience sharp pain.
If you are experiencing the following, you may need to get a root canal:
We will take a comprehensive oral exam of your mouth and teeth to determine the exact placement of your root canal. An x-ray digital image will be captured to diagnose which tooth has a nerve infection.
On the day of the procedure, we will numb the selected area with an anesthetic to alleviate pain. Then, we will drill into the tooth and remove the infected pulp. The canal will be cleaned and sealed with a rubber-like substance, called gutta-percha.
No one should have to experience tooth pain and that’s why we provide immediate relief. We are dedicated to ensuring your smile is in great shape! Contact us today to get started!
