When it comes to numbing the pain, applying a cold compress or an ice pack over the affected area works wonders. Wrap some ice cubes in a cloth and apply it for 5 to 10 minutes.
A warm salt water rinse is one of the most common and effective remedies for a toothache. Take one tablespoon of sea salt, mix it in a glass of warm water, and swish it around your mouth. Salt water helps in flushing out food particles and discomfort-causing bacteria.
Cloves have been used as a pain reliever for a very long time. All you have to do is take a clove and place it inside your mouth and over the affected spot for 20 to 25 minutes. You can also use clove oil to reduce inflammation and numb the toothache.
Peppermint tea acts as an antibacterial, helping you relieve a toothache. In order to make peppermint tea, add one tablespoon of dried peppermint leaves into a pan of boiling water and steep it for 15 minutes. Cool down the tea and swish it around your mouth and spit.
If you aren’t a fan of swish and spit, warm up a peppermint tea bag and place it over the affected area.
Garlic has been used for its medicinal properties for centuries. To use garlic for toothache relief, crush a clove until it takes the shape of a sticky paste and carefully apply it over the affected area. You can also chew a garlic clove and spit it out afterward. Garlic not only acts as a toothache reliever but will also kill harmful bacteria.
